The quickest and Easiest way to get here on that day will be if you are in a car approach from the east side also look for parking on the east side the west side will be a nightmare stay east of Lenox avenue. By train take the 2 or 3 train to 110th street coming downtown get in the 3rd car coming uptown get in the 3rd car from the last car come out of the exit that is just an exit go around mama's fried chicken and you will be on St. Nicholas avenue then walk the remaining 2 blocks.

Jersey was in the house and the group from Poughkeepsie one of their group made out like a bandit and he learned some stuff too. LOL. I am not listing a specific yarn but I recommend using a nice & soft one because the item may be coming in contact with sensitive skin and depending on the thickness of the yarn just use the listed hook if the yarn is thick use a smaller hook so the hat is not too big.

We will be having speed crochet/knit contests so get your practice on.

Rules: knitting/crochet speeds over 3 minutes.
Fastest Knitting Speed = Garter Stitch (knit every row) across a row of 60 stitches, using (No 8) 4mm. needles and DK yarn. Highest score so far is 180 stitches (3 rows).
Fastest Crochet Speed = 20 stitches in treble crochet and 3 chain turn, using 5mm hook and double knit yarn. Each treble crochet counts as 4 points. Highest score so far 92 points.

I am trying to work out a currency exchange, currency being books, mags, hooks & needles. It will be a store basically your money is of course any books, mags, hooks or needles you don't use or are not interested in any more in good condition I can not stress GOOD condition you know no marks minimal rips please have all the pages & no bends or rust (that's for the hooks & needles).
You bring in the items you will recieve a ticket for the value assigned and you will proceed into the room to shop. I will get back to you on the final decision if you have any suggestions please feel free I am open.

Get to work you guys there will be a Peoples Choice Award for the best and most creative use of camouflage in the show. Top Gear for OUR TROOPS

Here is our second charity effort. This charity is sponsored by The Uptown Crochet Corner. Top Gear for OUR TROOPS. This charity is near & dear to my heart especially since my cousin is returning to Iraq for a third tour and we thought this would be the perfect time to spread the love abroad to the young women & men who are protecting our right to freedom.

Top Gear being helmet liners (crochet/knit beanies) made in 100 % soft wool. These hat's will be given to ground troops so the colors are black, beige, army green, olive, navy, desert camo, dark grey or brown. The fiber & colors are for their protection. No fancy stitches these hats will be worn under their helmets so they must fit close. Please do not double the yarn wool is very warm so there is no need. Make sure hat's are big enough to fit a man's head about 22 to 24"circ & long enough to cover the ears 8 1/2-10 in. No brim.

I will be adding a crochet pattern soon but for now if you wish to get started a simple Internet search will get you what you need. These hats are to be turned in the day of the HCOKT, if you are out of town and wish to join our efforts please feel free we will accept any & all donations from individuals & groups. This is one of 2 charity projects that the HCOKT will be raising squares for (I know they are rectangles but work with me) Sanctuary Stitchers sponsored by the Jewish Board of Family and Children's Services (JBFCS).

present and eventually the future. We hope the
blanket will remind them of the good things
they experienced and provide comfort in their
new lives."

We had our first planning meeting today & boy oh boy I am feeling HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY. It was great I want to send a BIG shout out to Kim for all her help & insight. All my other ladies you go girls for having my back I love you all. I just popped in to say Hi & give you guys a lil update. Ok people TTFN COL

Who knew asking for donations would be such hard work. I have been typing my lil fingers to the bone trying to get those unforgettable goodies for you guys. Keep you fingers crossed for some good news cause I already got some bad but no fear because I am the lil engine that could so I will never give up.

Tonight I am spreading the word there will be a Crochet out in NYC this year Whooo hoooo. Now just to pull it all together by the 21st booo hooo LOL just kidding but I am sure there will be some tears b 4 it's all over. Pray for me y'all I need all the help I can get. Why Crochet Out & not Knit Out you may be wondering well I figure since the group who is whipping this Soiree into shape is a group of multi talented hookas we would put our lil spin on it so Crochet Out it is. I put out some pretty big feelers this evening trying to make this an extra special event so wish me luck.
